Eat Away Your Wrinkles
Free radicals deplete collagen and elastin, making the fibres tougher and causing them to shrink. It is collagen, supported by hyaluronic acid which gives youthful skin it's plumpness and lack of it leaves skin looking dry and as if it has lost its spring. Ultimately the loss of collagen leads to sagging skin and turns fine lines into wrinkles and folds.
Do not worry we can defend ourselves.
Antioxidants work to minimize the damage caused by free radicals and to keep skin healthy.
Antioxidants include vitamins, minerals and other compounds in foods. The biggest group of antioxidants are flavonoids - these are basically the phytochemicals which give fruits and vegetables their colour and taste.
Antioxidant rich fruits include:
Blackberries, blueberries, cranberries, grapes, peaches, plums.
Antioxidant rich vegetables include:
Asparagus, aubergines, broccoli, potatoes, spinach, sweet potatoes.
Antioxidant nuts include:
Hazelnuts, pecans, walnuts
gotta switch things up to keep things exciting! as probably most of you know, my go-to breakfast (as of late) is some sort of yogurt-fruit combo. this morning I decided to go wild and switch things up. same (similar) but different. 1 slice whole wheat toast, lightly toasted + @traderjoes Icelandic yogurt + fresh blubs + crunchy peanut butter 😋🥰 combo is 👌✨
There were sooo many times when i first was trying to go #plantbased that I’d order or make any plain old salad. It would fill me only for a short period of time and ALWAYS left me feeling like i needed more. FINALLY, i learned how to build NUTRIENT-packed salads that leave me feeling FULL and energized!! The key to a salad that will nourish and supplement you is a SOLID BASE. Always work a spring mix with spinach, Swiss chard, or kale into your romaine and iceberg. Always try to have your super greens at a higher portion than your less-nutritional lettuces.
Next- TOPPINGS. Be wary of toppings that may taste yummy but don’t always add to the health factor of the dish. I love corn and egg on a cobb salad but they don’t always add nutrients our bodies actually need. Health conscious toppings are broccoli for fiber, cherry tomatoes for vitamins A&C, avocado for healthy fat, cucumbers for antioxidants and hydration, and carrots for vitamin C! (Just to name a few.) 🥑🥦🍅🥒
I love to roast cauliflower and place it on top in substitute of chicken. It has a hearty, filling texture and is high in vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants!! A salad like this for lunch keeps me fuller longer and feeling READY to power through the rest of my day!!
Did you know that two of our key ingredients in our all-in-one concentrate are derived from Camellia sinensis (green tea) leaves? They are Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water💧and Camellia Sinensis Catechins 🌿, both powerful #antioxidants for skin.

I get asked often what the difference is between honeybush tea and rooibos tea also known as red tea. Well honeybush is a sibling and is in fact the same genus. The plant is grown in south Africa and although considered a tea is not the chamilia chinensis plant.
The health benefits are numerous and it is especially known to be high in antioxidants. Honeybush is sweeter than its relative and makes a great cup oh hot or cold tea.

What are terpenes and why do they matter? Terpenes are organic, aromatic compounds produced by plants which are being researched for potential medical and therapeutic benefits. #Terpenes can enhance the medical potential of #cannabinoids when they are used in combination, and terpene content may be equally important as cannabinoid content.
Which is why @healed_by_hemp products contain a wide range of terpenes for maximum efficiency! 3rd party lab tests for cannabinoid AND terpene content are available on our website! 💚

Maya’s favorite beans: black beans, black-eyed peas, cannellini beans, chickpeas, edamame, great northern beans, kidney beans, lentils. 🌱
According to Dr. Michael Greger, we should be consuming 3 servings of beans on a daily basis. Servings sizes include: 1/2 cup of cooked beans OR 1/4 cup of hummus/bean dip OR 1 cup fresh peas, sprouted lentils. 🌱
Beans are high in amino acids which combine to make protein and help build muscle. The fiber found in beans can be very satiating, helping you to feel fuller and prevent overeating. As a result, beans contribute to weight loss and a slimmer waist. The same fiber found in beans can help regulate blood sugar levels. In 1982 “the lentil effect” was discovered upon noticing that lentils can actually prevent a spike in blood sugar levels hours after its consumption and at a subsequent meal. The prebiotics found in beans create a feast for your healthy gut bacteria which contributes to the slow absorption of sugar into the system. 🌱
A huge benefit to consuming beans can be found in their ability to prevent cancer. The antioxidant properties found in beans called polyphenols fight the effects of free radicals and behave as anti-inflammatories. Beans also lower high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. Thus reducing the risks of heart attacks, strokes, or other cardiovascular problems. Beans are low in saturated fat, free of cholesterol, are a good source of folate. They also contain iron and zinc. 🌱
If you do not have time to cook your beans, purchase the sodium-free BPA-free canned beans from your local store. Simply drain and rinse the canned beans. You can add beans to soups, salads, burritos, or make spreads. 🌱
Our coconut water is flavoured with real raspberries ❤️ Raspberries contain strong antioxidants such as Vitamin C, quercetin and gallic acid that fight against cancer, heart and circulatory disease and age-related decline ❤️
Today’s post is about one of my favorite things. KOMBUCHA!!✅
I find myself consuming at least 3-4 servings per week of this tasty (albeit acquired taste) beverage. Kombucha has many health benefits that span from aiding in digestion to helping to boost and support our immune system. ✅
Did you guys know that the largest number of immune cells in our body is located in the gut? Go figure. This accumulation of healthy bacteria is commonly known as the microbiome. The microbiome can be negatively affected by stress, alcohol use, antibiotics and other harmful substances.✅
By drinking kombucha, you may be able to assist in restoring your gut bacteria. If you’ve found probiotics to be helpful, then Kombucha could be a great addition to your regimen as it full of good bacteria. ✅
Kombucha is also a great source of PREbiotics, which will will help to continue the growth and production of healthy gut bacteria. PRObiotics have been shown to be help provide relief from issues like IBS, diarrhea, and constipation.✅
Kombucha is typically fermented in green or black tea, which does have a small amount of caffeine but is loaded with antioxidants. If that weren’t enough, Kombucha also contains B vitamins, which are vital for mood support and energy metabolism.✅
So if you haven’t tried Kombucha yet, take the plunge and let me know what you think in the comments.
Check out some of my favorite brands below…✅
In RVA: check out @blueridgebucha for amazing fusions of kombucha. My favorite right now is Jasmine Grape. But their Ginger Kombucha is pictured above.
National brands: @healthade, #synergykombucha and @traderjoes has an amazing organic pomegranate hibiscus kombucha that I featured in my INSTAstory earlier. Today was my first time trying it and I have to say, it’s pretty good.✅
