Happiest when spending Friday afternoons like this 🤓🕵🏻♀️☕️
I had a half day of work today (I ❤️ Summer Fridays!!) and spent my afternoon with my nose buried in my current read - THE NIGHT VISITOR by Lucy Atkins (@Quercus_USA). Guys, I can’t even tell you how much I am loving this read - but bear with me while I try!! 😉
THE NIGHT VISITOR is an absolute breath of fresh air. I’ve been very honest both here & on my blog that I’ve begun to experience a certain amount of fatigue with the sheer volume of psychological and domestic suspense novels that claim to be “twisty” and “shocking,” and seem to revolve around very similar plotlines. Don’t get me wrong - I totally understand the appeal of them!! I’ve just found it harder & harder to find something that really delivers the promised “gripping” reading experience. 🧐 •
If you’ve felt any of that fatigue yourself, you absolutely need to check out THE NIGHT VISITOR. This book is chilling, unnerving, and totally engrossing—Atkins’ writing will draw you in and hold your attention on every. Single. Page. 👌🏻 THE NIGHT VISITOR hums with tension - readers will be gripped by the story’s unique central mystery and fascinating characters. This book is weird in all the best ways; it has a totally unique personality, bizarre occurrences, and a whole heck of a lot of descriptions of beetles. 😂🙌🏻 I love this read, plain & simple. •
What are you reading this Friday?! 🤓
| 4,5 / 5 ⭐️ | •
Reading a comic book on a phone is not an ideal situation, but it's also not as bad as I thought it would be. Once you switch to guided navigation, turn on auto-rotate, and sit the phone in a tablet stand, you've got a decent reading experience. #comicbooks#runaways#hoopla#phones#amazonbasics#amreading
Which drinks will you be pairing with your reading this weekend? I've been enjoying a coconut iced coffee...
Thanks so much to @avon_books for the book post I love the swear jar that goes with it. This book is from the author of Why Mummy Drinks so I'll be reading the to back to back-yey!
“The point of being good is doing it when it’s tough, not when it’s easy.” —Half Bad 🐺
Sooo I just finished Half Bad yesterday and remain confirmed in my belief that Nathan has one of the most captivating and unique first person POV voices. ❤️📚 Keeping this short and simple because I have a lot of writing to catch up on (may or may not have spent the greater part of the morning/afternoon playing Portal 😂🤖) so:
1) next TBR is probably going to be #ReaperAtTheGates ⚔️ 2) Officially crossed the 60k mark in #SpaceMobyDick WIP yesterday 🎉🎉🎉 Goal is to knock out 65k by Sunday evening 🌊🐳🌌🚀 #shadowandbone#bookstagram#bibliophile#amreading#booknerd#bookish#bookworm#booknerdigans
Front porch reading because this week has felt like the spring Missouri didn’t get this year.
This is the first time I’ve read Annie Proulx and so far the book reminds me of Marilynne Robinson in the sense that it’s a nice, slow read in the best kind of way. Plenty of time to get to know, and fall for, the characters. I’m also inexplicably drawn to sailing all of a sudden? 😉

Happy Friday friends! 🌿 Did it feel like the world’s longest week for anybody else? Because it sure did for me. 😅
I haven’t gotten nearly as much reading done as I would have liked these past several days, and it’s beginning to stress me out... because I have all of these delightful library holds available, and they’re going to be due back before I get to a single one. 🙈 Why does this ALWAYS happen, you guys!?
Luckily though, I’m headed out of town this weekend for a fun little overnight getaway, and I’m thinking I’ll be able to squeeze in a decent chunk of reading time! 🙌🏻 Have you read any of these books yet? Which one would you suggest I start first? 📚
"if you were born with the weakness to fall⠀
you were born with the strength to rise."⠀
how do you usually spend the last few days of your break?
i just read as much as i can, simple. there’s only two more days till school reopens, so no surprise that i’m suffering from a little post-holiday blues. 🤷🏻♀️
Slowly this new darkness sank back into the earth as the evil surrounding it embraced it as if it was a new friend. It had claimed this soul which was powerful enough to tip the balance between the good in the world and the evil. "I Am Wrath" D.L.Brownson
