"Is Chewing Gum Bad? Before we get into that, it’s important to note that gum is a mainstay in American culture. In fact, the United States played a huge role in spreading the popularity of chewing gum around the world.
But is chewing gum bad? The dozens of varieties on store shelves today contain an array of new ingredients, bringing bolder colors, longer-lasting flavor … and a whole host of new health risks.
The News for Your Gut Isn’t Good- Chewing gum manufacturers have been turning to an ingredient called titanium dioxide for years. Now used in nanoparticle form, this extremely tiny metal compound is posing some serious emerging health threats. This is probably the scariest reason to avoid gum.
Recognized as safe by the FDA, this compound is often used in nanoparticle form to create a bright white pigmentation in paints, plastics … and chewing gum. (2) It’s also found in other foods, like candies and powdered white sugar (donuts!) and even bread. Although it’s allowed on store shelves and considered safe, scientists are starting to paint a different picture. Chronic exposure to titanium dioxide nanoparticles in the diet: Weakened the intestinal barrier. Slowed down metabolism. Triggered inflammation. Weakened the gut’s defense against pathogens. Blocked nutrient absorption of key nutrients like iron, zinc and fatty acids..The nanoparticles actually blunted the effectiveness of the small intestines’ microvilli. Microvilli are tiny projections that jut off of small intestinal cells and work to absorb nutrients our bodies need to survive. (3). Beyond that, many chewing gum products contain emulsifiers to retain flavor and keep gum from sticking to your teeth. (5) The trouble is, many emulsifiers act almost like detergent in your digestive tract, throwing off the natural balance of your gut flora."This entry was posted in Digestive Health. #chewinggum#alphabet#reading#kids#healthnut_guru#babies#healthliving#healthy#lifestyle#alphabetchildrensbooks#eating#foodpic#foodpics#health#healthy#instahealth#snacks#activehealth#healthychoices#children
Swipe 👉🏼 to see a headstand progression! Headstands are a fun way to work on core, stability, and balance. Here are our steps to a headstand:
1. Tabletop Position - make sure to align your wrists under your shoulders and your knees under your hips.
2. Lift the heels and extend the legs.
3. After making sure your head and neck are secure (make a triangle between your head and your hands), gently place one knee onto each elbow.
4. Engage the abdominal muscles, bringing your knees in together and stacking your hips over your shoulders.
5. From there, engage abdominals and glutes, lift your feet up. Focus on keeping a tight core and tucked pelvis. Maintaining the tightness throughout your body will ensure stability 👍🏼

You’d think that a juice product called “Simply Orange” would be a trustworthy, natural, family-safe option wouldn’t you? Well it turns out that this processed orange juice manufactured by the soda giant Coca-Cola, is anything BUT simple!
The advertisements don’t lie when they say the juice is made from real oranges and not from concentrate, but what they fail to mention is the unnatural, twisted transformation that these oranges go through to become juice.
It all starts and ends with something called the “Black Book,” which is the name of an algorithm that makes Simply Orange. An algorithm to make natural orange juice?
Believe it or not the makers of Simply Orange make their seemingly natural orange juice by stripping oranges of all their natural characteristics, injecting false replications of those exact characteristics, and then slapping a picture of an orange on the bottle.
There are 600 flavors in the Black Book algorithm that are used to tweak the flavor in order to keep it consistent, regardless of external factors. Sometimes, perfecting the taste of this juice can take a year! In order to fiddle around, test and transforming their juices, Coca-Cola removes all of the oxygen content in the juice so that it will not go bad. It’s not a very nice thought is it? Thinking that the “fresh” juice you’re drinking has actually been in a factory for a year is not exactly appealing… or natural.
The worst part is, these artificial flavors aren’t required to be on the ingredient list of the juice because they are also extracted from the oranges, however they are far from natural!" Remove the barriers, stop the excuses and get moving!! 🚲🚶🏽♂️🏃🏼♀️ To stay healthy, adults should try to be active every day and aim to achieve at least 150 minutes of physical activity over a week through a variety of activities. Children over 5 should be active for at least 60minutes a day.
People who exercise regularly have a lower risk of developing many long-term (chronic) conditions, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, and some cancers.
Research shows that physical activity can also boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality and energy, as well as reducing your risk of stress, depression, dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
Happy exercise!!! #physicalactivity#exercise#activehealth#activehealthandwellbeing#improveyourhealth#movemore#beactive#healthbenefits#healthyliving#healthylifestyle

🍽 plate or bowl 🥣
Do you tend to eat your main meals from a plate or bowl?
If you are trying to control your portion sizes but feel your plate looks empty, eating out of a bowl can help shift the mindset.
The 2 meals above are exactly the same size but the bowl looks fuller therefore leaving you feel like you have eaten a full meal rather than half a plate.
The meal above is fish in Mediterranean sauce, roasted carrots and peppers, mange tout and beans with sweet potato fries (healthy version of fish and chips!) Let me know if this simple change works for you!
The number on the scale should NOT be the only thing you measure as a metric of your improvement. However here are a few reasons why you’re probably not losing weight. #Repost @maxlugavere
Hey friends! 👋🏼 Here are 9 reasons you might experience stalled weight loss. Which are your biggest problems? 🤔
🔥 Some of the most common questions I get involve weight loss! There is so much confusion when it comes to losing weight. But really, if that’s your goal, on the surface, the process should be quite simple. Unfortunately today we are saddled with stress, sleep debt, and a food supply that often seems intent on working against us.
💪🏼 I made this simple graphic to highlight some of the less obvious ways you may be holding on to extra lbs.
🍃 Perhaps the most effective way to lose weight is to *not* go on a diet but to shift your lifestyle toward healthier habits. Yes, cutting out starchy carbs and processed foods which drive your hunger is a great primary strategy. But lifestyle also plays a major role in how our hormones regulate our weight.
🥐🍞🥖 While any calorie deficit will lead to weight loss, lowering carbs keeps your hunger more stable by allowing your blood sugar to stay consistent. And, it allows you to enjoy higher levels of growth hormone which helps to preserve your muscle.
🥚🍗🍖 Increasing your protein not only indices greater satiety than fat and carbs but it stimulates muscle protein synthesis and also provides a greater thermic effect which causes your metabolism to ramp up (this may provide low carb, higher protein diets with a slight “metabolic advantage” over lower protein moderate carb diets, but this is controversial).
🥑🥥 And finally adding healthy fats to your diet is great for satiety and filling out your calories, but the calories in fat can still add up leading to a hypercaloric (more calories than you are burning though) state!
Double tap to let me know if this is helpful. 🤔 and if you have any questions, post them below! 👇🏼

#Cupping : may be cool and flashy and sometimes even good marketing with the marks left over 🤣 but in reality let’s remember any modalities chosen are trying to achieve the same thing: invoke an internal stimulus in the body via an external stimuli. Whether that is bringing healing to the area or activating/“turning off” other muscles. A few other things I’ll highlight:
1. With all the modalities that are possible, it can be confusing what to use and when. All I can say is trust your assessment and get better at it, and this will lead to what treatment should occur. As well as meeting the patient half-way with what they want, but also with what will work.
2. Thinking that 20 minutes of therapeutic activity or manual therapy once a week with no take home instructions and exercises is ridiculous. You’re only as good as the CORRECT exercise you’re prescribing because the patient is able to utilize this more than see you (@dnsrehabilitation would be the optimal choice).
3. Empowering patients to control their body, movement and pain. You’re doing a disservice if you’re creating dependency...even if they’re getting better!
Happy Monday! Don’t forget to follow @ahr_clinic and get scheduled if you’re in pain or simply want to move better or get stronger.
