Ain’t it the way- spent 2 hours looking for a place to paint and ended up at somewhere near home! Two ladies walked by and stopped, said what a nice relaxing thing to be doing. I thought for a moment then explained that at times it was anything other than relaxing: finding a motif, approximating the colours nature throws out, the light changing every two seconds etc., etc. Sure, relaxing. #8x10 . Here is a scan of one of my first tintypes. I produced a total of eight in a workshop at gold street studios over in Melbourne. The scan doesn’t do the actual image justice but it does give a reference.
So I've been experimenting with a different alternative process. Shooting my 8x10 with direct positive paper. So far I love it! Direct positive paper is printing paper designed for people printing from positive black and white sides. The difference from regular paper is that it comes out positive instead of negative. So I basically get a one off print straight from the camera.
