Week 12 update post bicep surgery. This will be my last update for this as I’m almost back to where I started before the tear. Still going semi light weight on back exercises and up to 25lb on bicep curls. Overall, pretty happy with how recovery turned out and hoping these posts will help someone else who has the same injury. Biggest keys were keeping calories high, keeping healthy blood flow in the arm thru exercise and most importantly, taking it slow with weight training. Luckily, i’ve stayed at 185lbs for the entire 12wks even though calories reached as high as 4,000kcals most days. Currently, eating at maintenance calories at about 2,800. Yesterday I mentioned the 5 minute rule to my challenge group. When you don’t feel like doing a workout, just tel yourself that you’re going to do it for 5 minute. By the time that 5 minutes is up, you’re usually in it enough to stick with it. Starting is the hardest part!
Well, there even the same kind of rule in seconds! If you haven’t read The 5 Second Rule, I highly recommend it! I used it this morning when the alarm went off. I used it again when I saw leg day on the calendar and I didn’t want to push play. I held the remote in my hand and counted in my head “5, 4, 3, 2, 1” then hit play.

I NEVER considered myself a morning person...even these last 2 years of working to get up early I would still say I didn’t love it but did it anyway... and just this morning I realized - I AM a morning person! 😆 The alarm is still not my favorite sound but then I say to myself, “Just think of how good you will feel in 30 minutes.” And it usually gets me out of bed 😉
You can LEARN how to do anything! Including waking up early 🙌🏼 Do you have a learned habit that you used to despise??
Thank you husband for getting up extra early so that we could both run this morning. I was able to knock out 7 miles before the heat AND volunteer in my daughter's class!! Huge win! It was about 10000 degrees cooler at 5:30 am than it is at 10 am. Such a treat! #fashionpagecomingsoon

How do I get my day off to a great start? 1️⃣ get up early (for me it’s 4:30 when I don’t have to be at work till 8) 2️⃣ get a good sweat session in at the gym 3️⃣ spend some time with the Lord 4️⃣ I help keep my anxiety in check while balancing my gut 5️⃣ drink my favorite raspberry/watermelon drink which happens to support glucose metabolism 6️⃣ Spend some time on personal development - I’m currently best friends with Rach and Dave Hollis and am soaking up everything by them. 7️⃣ choose a positive mindset - whether I have a good day or not is up to me .
