Excuse the grumpy squinty end-of-work-day face - this is me walking home from bus stop trying to figure out if I like my new glasses. I am distracted because I really do like this hat!
P.s. editing this post to add I am now having a long internal dialogue in my brain about why I don’t normally post selfie pics, and why am I apologising for having a tired grumpy face at 5pm aged 43?? I mean tbh I think mostly it’s because I don’t find pictures of me as interesting as everything else in the world. Or yarn. Or say that pretty creek behind me which runs across the road from where I Iive.
Also I suspect like many women it’s not necessarily because I don’t like how I look (although sometimes I don’t, because, thanks fucked up misogynistic society) but I tend to be surprised to find I look like a tired middle aged lady. Although in reality why shouldn’t I? I have a busy, reasonably stressful nearly full time exec-level day job that takes a lot out of me. Then I come home to my wonderful yet sometimes not wonderful & exhausting kids; and my crafty side hustle.
Also while I’m musing on middle aged selfies I doubt that even if insta existed 20 years ago when I was kid-free, job-I’m-conflicted-about-free, 10+ kg lighter & had more photogenic long blond hair I likely wouldn’t have because I’d be too busy reading books, drinking beer, not appreciating my awesome young person metabolism, and trying to finish a PhD thesis. So there’s that. Hurray for being 43, tired and fabulous!!!!!! #knittinglife#4eyes#knittersofinstagram

I recently joined the 4 eyes club. I'm dizzy and my life feels like a video game but I can see 🤓💕 Also people have been telling me that iPhones take better photos. Should I get a iPhone? I love my Samsung but the picture quality isn't always the best.....ahhhhh
People ask me, "Nik, why do love running?" Running has always been very therapeutic for me. Regardless of what kind of day I've had, I still get a good cardio workout. I'm also warmed up for when I hit the weights. I wouldn't say it's a simple way to lose body fat, but I'd rather pick running over burpees, just saying lol.
However, running at OP, on the track or treadmill wasn't cutting it. I decided to run my first race two weeks. It's been years since I've competed and I'm happy that I finally did 🏃💦💪
