Should I save for a recoil shock? Kind of wanting to enter into the AEG market and selling some of my old stuff. Love recoil still though, and the last shot hold open is a plus.
I have to say, the TM gearbox is quite a pretty thing to behold. A light coating of grease lubricates all the working moving parts. Gears seem to be shimmed ok, airseal pretty decent, and just overall a lovely setup. I did however spot a little wear on the release tooth of the sector gear, and according to the owner there is about 10k-12k shots through the gun. Quite a low round count for the wear, but it is expected as the material the gears are made from is quite soft by comparison to say a G&G. Still, i would have thought 50k would be reasonable amount to put through before seeing such wear.
Anyway, enough bitching about that. I will be recommending new gears to the owner, but for future upgrading. Same as some new bushings. The plastic ones are decent quality, will last pretty well with the current setup. Still, something hard wearing in the long run would be prefered. A piston with some metal teeth would also be on the cards, but again would be my preference.
So im going to do the usual tuneups on this gearbox, and im going to polish up the piston, tappet, and blowback rails. In fairness they are smooth but have some very faint casting burrs in a couple of places that il polish out for good measure.
Il be changing the spring to bump up the power from 280 to nearer 320fps. Problem is the stock spring is attached to the piston. Il be getting a little creative to get that out 😂
As sacrilege as it is to open a TM, im quite enjoying this little project! They are very neat, pretty, and well designed internals! Lets hope i havent disturbed that magic TM dust too much.... #gambitcustomairsoft#irishairsofttech#tm416#TokyoMarui#416delta
