This bottle hold special memories. It is time.
Always thought it would be a massive event for me to open this.
realized everyday is a event #mylifeevent
I have depleted my whole previouse lifetime supply of collected wines... #newcollections *footnote: Christian Eeds Top 10 in 2012...not me the wine😋
#closdady#2009vintage just spent the last three months lost in the fedex system. My container just left Lahavre today. Expect this lovely wine for your holidays!! #onebottleshort @chateau.les.remparts Thanks Igor!!
Always worth a shot 📷 @domperignonofficial 🥂🍾 The seductive 2009 Dom Pérignon has become a firm favourite with the Goedhuis team. Marked out by its open expression and its fresh mineral nose of oyster shell and smoky gun flint. The palate is exquisite, with profound depth of flavour and a vibrant saline finish. Its power, aromatic persistence, and silky texture are simply irresistible. 🙌 #domperignon#2009vintage#finebubbles#champagne
Pulled one out of the cellar.. tough vintage for just 1 barrel.. I remember taking care of not wasting 1 drop! Unfortunately Cherry Camp Syrah will no longer be, as the owner budded over to another varietal.. 🙄.. luckily I’ve got a nice stash still.. 🍷
Name: 2009 Cuvelier Los Andes Grand Vin
My rating: 91+
My price: $44 from @calvertwoodley
Didn’t know much about this wine, but needed something to celebrate the birth of our newest follower! Stopped by Paul’s since it was right by the hospital and picked up this bottle on recommendation of the manager from their back room, not on shelfs. You might notice the similarities in label, but a Mendoza effort from the French family that owns and operates Chateau Leoville Poyferre. A blend of 70% Malbec, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Syrah, 5% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot.
Enticing nose of sweet fruit that previews a simple fruit bomb. However, the palate really tells a different story. Definitely fruit forward with beautiful ripe red fruit, but nicely balanced with the more savory elements of tobacco, earth, and finishing with stone and minerals. I believe this is still on the upswing with tannins that pull everything together remaining and should likely be drunk between now and 2021. Really a fine effort.
Lucky enough to find this 2009 Castle Brook English Sparkling Wine for only £20 at Marks & Spencer. It shows how much more depth wine can have when matured for a little bit longer. Striking golden colour, great toastiness and body. Grab it while you can! 🍾🥂🍾🥂🍾🥂
When @andreedevove agreed to cook a traditional Burgundian dinner the occasion called for some serious wines! Not much of a Bordeaux drinker but I though the juxtaposition between old world and very old world was a fun study over beef Bourguignon. The ‘99 I am quite familiar with at this point. Always delivering a deliciously resinous, medicinal, cigar box nose with this kind of stewed fruit juicy ness on the palate.
The ‘09 Branon was a very different sort of wine. Pure extracted/super polished dark purple juice. Almost overly luxurious and dripping. This is why I shy away from Bordeaux these days, I just can’t get behind this style much anymore. Regardless everyone really enjoyed this one. .
Krug 164 édition is always killer! ‘08 base vintage with reserve wines going back to 1990 😱! @krugoli I love this wine. I love this producer. This will be absolutely destructive when it has some additional age but absolutely beautiful to drink now.
The Shaman is another favorite of mine. This one from the ‘14 vintage. Showing this super oxidative, nutty quality upon opening. This resolves with an hour of air leading to much greater purity and expression. Super biodynamic producer @champagne_marguet with amazing vineyard practices.
Last but not least, the C+C from @suenenchampagne which was just drop dead gorgeous BdB. Defined by extreme purity of fruit and varietal character with a strong sense of terroir. All while being dry but not cloying, rich but not flabby. This wine really struck a harmony.
PS, I’m getting really good at this sabering thing 😆🥂🍾 #krug#krugchampagne#krug164#grandcuvee#suenen#extrabrut#suenenchampagne#chouilly#cramant#grandcru#marguet#shaman#champagnemarguet#ambonnay#biodynamic#biodynamicwine#naturalwine#chateaubranon#pessac#pessacleognan#2009vintage#chateaumusar#gastonhochar#1999#bekaavalley#lebanon#champagnesabering
After tormenting over where to take foreign guests for best Korean hanwoo bbq experience in Seoul, I settled on Woo Tender 우텐더 for its hip bistro like ambience, and a diverse cuts of premium Hanwoo beef including tenderloin 안심, striploin 채끝, and highly marbled ribeye 꽃등심. It turned out to be a wise and happy choice, and the meat was astonishingly good, juicy, succulent, melting in the mouth like cotton candy😋. Fresh uni on top of medium rare cut of beef was unbelievable! Amazing though the beef was, still the highlight of the evening was the 2009 Opus One. The wine was simply spectacular, Olympian in its majesty and opulence, with floral, herbal, mocha aromas, silky tannins, long searing finish that was a cornucopia of delicious flavors. The wine was Mozartian in that it was easy to approach and enjoy out right, but with so many layers of art and craft hidden beneath 🤗. Chateau Beycheville, also from 2009 vintage, seemed austere and flat by comparison, but gradually revealed its pedigree once the wine opened up, with delicious black fruit flavors and fresh eathiness emerging. Happy, unforgetable evening of awesome food and amazing wines ☺.
Special wine in tonight’s glass. This wine is my favorite wine from Hall wines. 2009 ( many close seconds and thirds-like choosing favorite children..can’t be done) but tonight I choose the company of this. Normally I drink Jack’s Masterpiece with burgers. But that’s just my habit. THIS is perfect with tonight’s steak Florentine grilled a perfect medium rare by my guy @captain_ron_11 But I digress. Let’s talk about the wine...sanguineous in color, medium plus tannins, decanted for 1 1/2 hours on the first tasting. Black pepper, dill, on the nose, cherry and red plum bomb plus a small fleeting moment of vanilla with a full mouth feel. Now.. 3 hours in and it’s more herbaceous and lots of cigar on the nose. Cherry is now in full burst in the mouth. They say the wine or the ingredients of a meal should be the star of a meal. I don’t always agree.. tonight? The wine did us in. NY strip and a ribeye, my mashed potatoes- ( so good you only need butter and S&P) , and my guy’s lovely Brazilian house salad with his homemade oven baked pumpernickel bread croutons, toms, red onion, blue cheese crumbles, and a cilantro jalapeño dressing. Say WHAAAAT? The wine has more time3+ years and is very oaky- I know this bc I’m allergic to hard woods and my nose is full... but do I care ? No. I do not. I’m always reminded as a ‘Cristal girl’ - it’s my favourite champagne after all (note: I do love Krug, Salon, Dom Perignon very much too). If you read the history of Cristal, it’s actually quite interesting but that’s a story for another day. So anyway, my friend decided to throw me a subtle belated birthday dinner (which he does every year) and in every year, I do get a bottle of something close to my birth year - 1986. Over the years as I grow older, so are the bottles bottled in 1986 and they became a lot more expensive and this time I was curious what vintage we would be drinking. It was a 2009 for the night and it was a blind taste, we were not even given the hint of whether they were old world wine or new world. Eventually I picked my favourite 2 bottles that turned out to be the Chateau Angelus 2009 and Chateau Pichon Baron 2009. At the end of the night, he opened a bottle of 1986 Chateau d’yquem - I had many bottles of Chateau D’yquem but never a 1986 (a 98 pointer) - the sweetness and intensity is right, with a little hint of spiciness paired with a special baked tart with bird’s nest - ohhh lala it was so good! #finewine#louisroederercristal#chateaulynchbages#chateaupichonbaron#chateaupapeclement#chateauangelus#vieuxchateaucertan#chateaudyquem#ychateaudyquem#agrapartetfils#2009vintage#dinner
There is 24 Premier Cru vineyards in Chambolle-Musigny, Les Amoureuses being widely regarded the fines one. Slightly different terroir than the northern part of the village with rocky topsoil over limestone. All this provide great drainage, forcing roots of vines to go deep into cracks ensuring low yield delivering small concentrated berries. Christoph Roumier makes one of the finest impression. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Nervous energy. Deep aroma of dust cover blackberry, wild strawberry in balsamic, burned wood, new leather, merh rose and wet rocky soil. Palate delivers big time, broad, energetic long with tannic grip and superb, border line, painful level of acidity. Sweet/ sour red berry fruit aftertaste macerated in balsamic and earth. Extremely exciting wine with exceptional capacity to mature over many decades. I will seek this wine out in the future.
