With all the baby news this week, I thought it would be fun to team with @promptlyjournals for a giveaway! I got my first childhood journal when I was pregnant with Finn and I’ve already started filling out one for Charlotte. Writing down sweet memories is one of my favorite things to do when I get a quite moment to myself. ✒️
I was first drawn to Promptly because of their thoughtful and beautifully designed adoption journals. I can’t wait to fill one out for an adopted child one day, Lord willing. I love that their simple prompts make it easy to keep up with. 📔
Promptly is generously giving away one childhood or adoption journal!
TO ENTER: 1. Follow @maryalice_hall and @promtlyjournals 2. Tag friends in separate comments who you think would love this giveaway! You can get an additional entree for each person you tag. I will announce the winner on Sunday! 🍀
Swipe right for an article that @guardian did on this very topic in 2016 (you can google the articles name to find the full piece) >>> You’ll see national staff scramble to take public transport every day while the white or expat staff ride in on their pricey Land Rover. Expat staff will take off as much time as they’d like to go on holiday while we can’t even get off our proper religious or national holidays, let alone a trip to Zanzibar for “self care” >>> You do not care about us unless we are your charity project and for that? We say, NO THANK YOU. Treat us as equals, not just as recipients of your aid (which is often highly unsustainable + will leave our communities in either the same position or worse than before) >>> Thoughts? Comment below with your experiences in relation to this? How have you been able to justify the pay differential between your national staff and yourself? How have you heard this justified? I have watched Christian missionaries actually be the worst with this...although not surprising as they don’t even support equal pay or livable wages in their own country!!! >>>#internationaldevelopment#internationaladoption#orphancare#missions#11in11#howiseepc#worldrace#loveoneinternational#love1#147millionorphans#haiti#portauprince#moshi#tanzania#ethiopia#orphanage#orphanagetour#orphanagevisit#fairtrade#uganda#jinja#kampala
This photo was taken in Haiti. And it was probably the most enjoyable day of my vacation.
There I was lucky enough to take a tour of life in Haiti. One fact was extremely disturbing to me and hit me so hard.
There are 32,000 orphaned children in Haiti currently.😳
Like whhhaaattt! This instantly broke my heart. So I did some more research.
Uganda- 2.5 million orphans. Where 1.2 million of them are orphaned by AIDS.
South Africa- 34 million orphans. Where 11 million of them are orphaned by AIDS.
This is a growing problem in the world that just tears at my heart strings tremendously!💔
Do you know what country has the highest amount of orphans!?
•This morning, as I sat poolside at our hotel waiting to check-out, all I could think about while I watched our 3 munchkins swim is how we keep coming up 1 peanut short. •This evening I was surprised with 4 new pictures PLUS a 5 and a half minute video of baby boy playing and trying to walk. •It’s always in these quiet moments where you’re waiting for the next big thing to happen that God kind of taps you on the shoulder and reminds you that He’s still there and piecing together every little detail that you’re not able to see on your own❤️
In only 7 more days my feet get to touch these amazing dirt roads again with @loveoneint and my heart can hardly stand it! Not many know this feeling of being excited of going to a place where people have so little of necessities yet the people of Uganda are so full of Joy! I cannot wait for my heart and soul to be filled by serving these people. For me this is what fills me up, refreshes my heart, soul, mind, and where I see Jesus! because when you are there nothing matters of what you have or who you are, you don’t even care that you don’t have your pretty and nice things and cushy comforts of home (that yes I do love) people just want to survive and be loved on! It brings me back to my center and where I need to be. Right now my tank is empty and has run dry! Thank you @63wells8 @loveoneint @suzannemayernick @gwen_oatsvall for this opportunity #Loveone#serveothers#whereyourtreasureslie#loveoneanother#147team#147millionorphans
Today I stared a travel series on the blog! With each post I will be adding photographs to an online gallery where you can buy prints from our travels to support our adoption! First up, the lovely Perugia! 🇮🇹 I’m sure I’ll still day dream about wandering those cobblestone streets and eating hazelnut gelato when I’m 80. Check it out- link to the blog in profile!
Hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day!! Last week I shot my first session since having Finn and I realized how much motherhood has inspired me. Photographing this super fun and sweet family that I’ve known forever was the best way to get back at it! More from this special session will be on the blog later this week. Take a quick second to subscribe so you don’t miss it! 💚
Ever since I started Elevenly I’ve always donated $11 for every package sold, to a charity 💕 For May I’ll be donating to 147 Million Orphans which is an organization that works to provide the critical needs of children impacted by the orphan crisis and living in poverty. 💕
Happy May Day! 🌸 It’s the perfect time to book a shoot and help us fundraise for adoption! If you missed the news, you can read all about it on the blog. It truly takes a village, this is not something we can do on our own. Send me a message and I’ll send you my new pricing guide! ♡
I’m grateful for the community here, but I am protective of my time with Finn so I’ve decided to focus on updating my blog regularly rather than social media. I would really appreciate if you would subscribe to the blog to stay updated on my photography and our family’s adoption story! Simply click the link in my profile to subscribe or you can DM me your email and I’ll sign you up!
You all have made me feel so incredibly loved over the last couple of days. I have been overwhelmed with all the requests for how you can help (can’t thank you enough!) There are a few ways.
1) Pray! This is the most important! I’ve listed some specific ways in my previous post but whatever is in your heart your prayers are so appreciated!
2) Sport one of these t-shirts while I am in Uganda, say a prayer and keep us in your thoughts every time you wear it. If you would like one please send me your size, color preference, how you would like to pay (whatever is easiest for you), and if you need the shirt shipped ($20 if you don’t need it shipped $24 shipped). 3) For those who feel led to give and would prefer to do so directly: https://www.gofundme.com/KellieLove-OneUganda (link also in bio)

10 hr round trip for SHOTS instead of shopping but she is happier than ever! This is how you know your baby is not a baby.
If you're going to Uganda or any place that requires yellow fever vaccine, this summer, the waiting list is months long!!! Vandy Travel Clinic is booking for June, Memphis has a couple of appointments mid-May, Little Rock May 1 (we have this one booked-we can maybe give to you) and Birmingham has 1 in April. #147millionorphans

God is so great! 🙏
Me and @makayla_rosselot have recently been accepted to partake in a mission trip alongside the @147millionorphans organization to Uganda (East Africa) from June 13th-22nd.🇺🇬
The trip is rather pricey, but we feel the deep calling to serve others and make our impact in this world through the name of Jesus, so we’re willing to do whatever it takes to make this trip happen. 😬
I don’t ask for much on here, but any donations and prayers are so greatly appreciated! You can check out our GoFundMe and learn more about what we’ll be doing by clicking the link in my bio. 🤗
Thank you all in advance, God bless.🙏❤️
I picked these flowers from the yard of a burned up house & off an old bush that was being choked by weeds... these little blooms were the only thing left resembling any beauty from that debris.
BUT- in that sweet vase, from my beloved friend, they look pretty good now.✌🏼
& they will welcome lots of beautiful little girls from foster care and guide them to love notes from their Father, written by their community, (& other foster mommas from all over the state.🤷🏼♀️🙌🏽)
“there is nothing ordinary about you. YOU are a daughter of the King and your story is significant. you are so LOVED.” #spreadlovelikeconfetti 🎉
My heart is bursting with pride. My dear, sweet Daria (@dariapl) is going to Uganda in June to volunteer with this wonderful organization. She needs help getting there. Please go to gofundme.com/147orphans-Daria to help her help these unfortunate children. God bless you. #147millionorphans

Whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, just remember how far you have come. Remember everything you have faced, all the battles you have won, and all the fears you have overcome. •
I open up pretty raw about my adoption story with my new friend @overcomingodds He asked me great questions that are tough to discuss... I still face a few unknowns out there with my story along with the pain of an ovarian illness and facing the hardship of surgery I was silly to think it would cost me my career. I’m not a therapist by any stretch, but I hope my story of a joyful adoption, meeting my birth mom on a TV talk show and not leaving the house in a dark time will inspire others to overcome odds. Listen to the full podcast (link in my bio today) or find it on the @overcomingodds website.
To my “real family”: I know growing up I was not the easiest to get along and I said things to hurt you as I worked at finding myself. As I am older, I want you to know you are my people. My ride or die, my life. I love you with all my soul, and I am eternally your daughter, sister, soul sister, cousin, and auntie. I am proud to brag you are my Forever Family! •
To my “reel TV family”: you know who you are and you’ve been by my side and inspire me every day to be a better producer and women. I’m honored to work next to you on set and journey together in life. Thank you for always believing in me. •
One of my favorite mugs I've ever done because you know I love me some TR & Laur! While I don't sell this specific design anymore, there are still three Thomas Rhett & Lauren Akins mugs (different designs) in my shop and 100% of the proceeds from each mug goes to their organization, @147MillionOrphans! 📷: @elanafata

Also shout out to @147millionorphans for the best hoodie in the world!!! Plus it’s for a good cause 💗
My sister in law and her sister absolutely adore Lauren. At first I didn't quite understand why, wasn't she just another wife of an artist we all loved? The answer is no, no she isn't. I never thought that because of one of my favorite artists I would end up gaining one of the best role models, if I can become half the woman Lauren is, I'm going to be extremely happy with that. Not only is she one of the most down to earth people you'll find, her passion is contagious, her love for life is inspiring, her strength and courage are something we should all be aiming for. @laur_akins is one in a lifetime and when you get her in yours, you don't let her go. She's fierce and a true friend. She does anything in her power for her friends and loved ones. She is the epitome of what a loving, strong, courageous, genuine, compassionate, caring woman looks like. Thanks, @laur_akins for teaching me more life lessons than I can count 😋💕#kindcampaign
Selah. You’re name means “to measure the meaning of what has been said.” Today you asked me again the meaning of your name. I am never sure how many details to give you yet about your adoption story. You know most of it as we’ve told you as soon as you could understand. Today I couldn’t form any words or sentences when you asked. I don’t know why, maybe I was exhausted, maybe I didn’t have the energy to be emotional, maybe as you age I fear that you’ll ask more questions and desire to one day reconnect with your birth mom and I’m not ready for that yet. Your adoption is open and has been since you were born, brought to us wrapped in a blanket (naked- as you always remind everyone). But the thought of you seeking to know the selfless woman who gave you life and gave you to us, brings up a bit of fear. Sweet girl, your mommy and that crazy guy behind you, we love you to the moon and back. You changed our world and taught us what selfless love looks like. You taught us to be brave, you taught us to trust, preparing us for the journey your brother would walk through. Even though yesterday I told your auntie that when you turn 16 one of us is going to move out (half joking), I want you to always know and feel the beautiful calling and purpose on your life. I want you to know that your story began with selfless love and you have inspired many of our friends to adopt as well. I love that when you grow up you want to move into a house with your brother and adopt 25 kids from an orphanage and give them each a dog or cat.

“You have nothing to do but to save souls; therefore spend and be spent in this work.” I haven’t really talked much about my trip to Haiti since I’ve been back. I had the most amazing experience! But coming back and adjusting to my “normal life” was honestly the hardest thing that I’ve ever done, and something that I’m still processing. You go into Haiti thinking that you’re going to change it, and then it actually ends up changing you. Haiti breaks your heart and brings you joy all at the exact same time. I had the most amazing team with Healing Haiti, and I cannot wait to see what is in store for me and my future because of my experiences there.
If you’re ever contemplating taking a service trip to help others, DO IT! If you think it’s not possible because of financials or life schedules, I’m here to tell you that you CAN accomplish it! If you’re someone that doesn’t feel comfortable leaving the country, that’s okay too! There are so many opportunities in your own community to give back. All you have to do is some research! One of my (late) goals for 2018 is to use this social media platform for good, and to help spread the word about some really amazing organizations that are inspiring others all over the world, and locally too! ⚓️ #espwa#PIMPINJOY#globalempowermentmission#generouscoffee#healinghaiti#humanityandhope#147millionorphans#mylifespeaks#papillonenterprise

Our team in Masindi was alerted to her situation, and she’s now receiving the care she needs (thank you Jesus 🙌🏽). Please keep this precious baby, her grandmother, and the people caring for her in your prayers 💛 #147million#love1#147uganda#147millionorphans

#Repost @laur_akins Y’all go check out her account. See the rest of the pictures of baby Frances. See what he came from and where he is now. Because of the love of Christ. I would love to go there and help. I don’t know that my gift is missions but I love babies and want all of them safe and warm and fed. My heart quickens when I see people helping people. I love it. #147millionorphans ・・・
So this is sweet little Frances. And if you scroll through these pics **WARNING some of them are hard to look at-but it was his reality** he was found by our @147millionorphans ground team in Masindi, Uganda. He is a total orphan, meaning no living relatives, he weighed about 12 pounds-yet he’s about 5 years old. The reason he looked like he did is because of complete malnourishment, he had no one to care for him. The community would put cassava root in a little bowl and he just sat there in the dirt with jiggers eating up his fingernails, no clothes and barely anything to eat. Enoch, on our 147 team, took him to the hospital then brought him to our new 147 Million Orphans Reclaim Center. He cried when anyone touched him, and he cried when they tried to put clothes on him because he wasn’t used to any loving human touch. He had no idea how to accept it. Oh my goodness. TODAY he’s not even the same child, thank you Jesus. He loves to be loved now not only from Ugandans but mzungus (white people) too 💛💛 now he has clothes, his fingernails are almost completely healed, and he has yummy healthy food and water, medicine, education and shelter-all of this provided by @147millionorphans in Jesus’ name 😘🙌🏼 y’all he’s the most precious little boy and there are many more just like him. So many of y’all ask me how to help. A huge way to help is by donating to @147millionorphans and giving children like little Frances a chance at a new life😘 I held him the last day we were there and he fell asleep on me, we ate some snacks, we sang songs, we played & laughed and when I held him he held on to me so tight😩😭💙 so thankful Jesus brought us to him and I cannot wait to watch him grow! Stay tuned for more pics of the little sweeties at our reclaim center :)
A few pictures from a wonderful week serving with @147millionorphans in Masindi, Uganda! Amazing how those who have so little can fill my heart so full. Counting down the days until we return in July. #147millionorphans#uganda#happynewyear
What a beautiful day with new friends in Masindi! Our team was able to help a family move from a grass hut into a real house! @addisonkc and I used our “mad constructions skills” to build a drying rack for pots & pans. @gracemayernick and I met a new friend that stole our hearts.
