I leaned hard on my California roots (I left for NYC when I was 25) for our all-night trail relay in the Sierras last weekend; note the baseball hat sans irony. Note, also, the neck gaiter, which I and most of the camp wore all weekend; it was dusty, sure, but we were also thinking of the Yosemite fire (distant enough that we could still run, sort of) and getting regular updates on air quality. I cried when we left: I felt lucky to have my friends, and grateful for access to a place the locals work so damn hard to protect for all of us. I love you, Northern California. There’s a link to Carr Fire relief agencies in my profile.
Flashing back to last weekend #ragnartrailtahoe and the motley crew we were. We ran in the heat of the day, during the pitch black and I even caught sunrise on a 5am final red leg. We finished 35th overall and had lots of fun with new and old friends! #trailrunning#donnersummit#iloverunning
