Repost from @wine_diary_ireland!
Tried my first Greek wines today @prowein_tradefair from @estatemanolesakis and I wasn’t disappointed 👍🏻 first wine was Exis a dry white wine from north-east Macedonia at an altitude of 200-300m clay soil with fine drainage over thin limestone.
Grape 🍇 varieties Malagouzia 55% Assyrtiko 45% they are pre fermented at controlled cool temperature. Then alcoholic fermentation at low temperature followed by ageing on the fine lees for 2 months. Separate vinifcation for each variety and blended after maturation. Light yellow-green, fruity with hints of orang blossom and melon peach orange pineapple and apricot. Nice smooth mouth feel good acidity with a fresh long finish. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
The second wine Estate Manolesakis Adriani Drama the same soil and altitude as the first wine but 🍇 variety in this wine is Sauvignon Blanc 60% Chardonnay 40%. Vinifcation takes place separately for each variety. Pre-fermentation cold maceration to increase the aromatic potential of each variety. Following alcoholic fermentation aged on the fine lees for 2 months. Flavors of citrus, the melon and some exotic fruits of mango, pineapple. Full bodied nice crisp acidity with a fresh long finish. #greekwine#santoriniwine#whitewine#prowin#assyritiko#malagouzia#wine#winetasting#winetime#winelover#winenight#winestagram#greekwinery#macedonianwine#macedonia#Greekwineries
