The Milky Way over lavender fields.
This is the Champs de Lavande (Fields of Lavender) at the Plateau de Valensole in Provence, France. This area is best known for its gorgeous lavender fields and expensive truffles.
Every year around mid-June to mid-July, these fields are blanketed in vibrant violet and blue in every direction. The sun shines on this valley nearly 300 days of the year, and the air carries the scent of lavender, making this a heavenly and romantic destination for weekend getaways and photography.
But these fields are not here just for aesthetic purposes. The locals have taken pride in this annual blooming that beautifies the region and brings in many tourists every year. As the flowers emerge, local stores and vendors decorate with sprigs of violet and blue. With a nod to history and heritage, they sell traditionally crafted products including honey, local delicacies, soaps, and oils while celebrating the good fortune of fertile lands and a pleasant climate.
