I can say....... Mandalao’s priority is definitely the elephants. I was scared like most people to book an elephant tour in Asia..... and unfortunately it’s not easy because people are clever in the way they word things. Many sanctuary’s??? promise that they are truly caring and rehabilitating the elephants after their hard lives logging etc. and then.. you hear the horror stories that people turn up to find elephants chained in small areas without enough food and being ridden for hours.
Meeting elephants up close was high on our kids bucket lists (and parents too) and if they could have, they would have loved to ride them until @mandalaos explained clearly why it was bad for the elephants to be ridden. They now do NOT EVER want to ride an elephant and were so overwhelmed by two elephants walking just beside us on a beautiful forest hike. There is no need to be on their back. The elephants were clearly enjoying our company and popping off when they wanted to fill their mouths, pushing the trees to get to the roots and then continuing with us on our hike. Ok bazaaaaarly, you turn around at times, to see this enormous elephant just comfortably walking behind, and you have to stop yourself from freaking out and chucking the kids into the trees and screaming help. Listen to the helicopter mother 😜🙃. We got to cuddle them, feed them bananas and really bond with them and yes... I got less and less overwhelmed by their size and more and more comfortable with their love. It was an incredible experience for us, followed by a wonderful lunch on the deck over looking our new friends at the other side of the river. I highly recommend Mandalao, they do small groups (4 or 8 people/ half or fullday), the price is more expensive but for a good reason, you are investing in a company who is dedicated to protecting and preserving domestic and wild elephants and also working with the local community.

You are the sum of the 5 people you surround yourself with most. Been surrounding myself with 9 elephants. Honestly feeling more majestic these days😚 I made a video about 5 personality traits we could learn from elephants. Any guesses on what they’re going to be?! (Don’t forget - link in bio to donate!💕)
MandaLao Elephant Conservation preserves and protects both domesticated elephants and those who remain in the wild. There are no elephant rides. No circus tricks. No evening elephant dances.
Instead, the humans simply observe as these huge mammals splash in the river, wrestle in the grass, and snack on the forest canopy. It offers exceptional and highly personalized expeditions.
A truly intimate opportunity to experience ‘the heart of the elephant’ in their natural habitat – while ensuring its elephants have an enjoyable life. @mandalao_elephants 🐘 #Elephant#Conservation#Mandalao#LuangPrabang#Laos#Nature#Wild#Animal#Life
Today was a DREAM DAY. With my bestie we had the opportunity to see elephants, walk with them, feed them and share love. It was beyond amazing. Elephants are such incredible intelligent creatures. I am also so thankful that an association such as Mandalao exists, because they are not only rescuing mistreated or unwanted elephants, they provide them a great environment to live in and participate to the saving of the species. Anyways, thank you Mandalao for respecting elephants and giving us the opportunity to share moments with them ❤️😍.
