💙 Another City that I've fallen in love with #hamburg
At 147 Meters Tall the spire of St. Nikolai Church is the tallest steeple in Hamburg. During the Allied bombing raids on the city during July of 1943 St. Nikolai was the pilots best navigational point towards the city during the fire storm, able to be seen from miles away above the billowing smoke. Today the ruins of the church have been left as a memorial to those who's lives we're lost by the Nazi's aggressive policies and the resulting air raids by Allied forces to dismantle their attempt at world power. Today you can take an air lift to the top of the tower to a viewing platform with stunning views of the city.
