#fbf : When I went to visit the University of Oregon as a junior in high school, I was like “okay this is cool.” But then I found the hidden mezzanine level of the EMU (student union), walked down a long hallway, and found this door, and I was like “okay YES.”
I ended up spending so much time during my college career behind this door at KWVA 88.1 FM. It was my comfort zone, my solace, my room for pulling all-nighters. The place where no one could find me and hippies had to use the side door (lol).
I was so happy to go on the air again at KWVA last weekend for their 25th anniversary alumni show. They have a new fancy studio now that doesn’t allow for doors like this one. But the good people wouldn’t let it go. While non-functioning it lives on.
I can still hear the electronic little gear-changing sound you’d make when I punched in my code.
Ever want to be part of a LIVE STUDIO AUDIENCE?? Well this is your chance! Show up at KWVA student radio in the EMU basement June 3 before 3pm if you wanna be on the radio with us, or tune into 88.1fm Sunday afternoon to hear us on the airwaves❤️📻 #arewefamousyet

KWVA 25th Anniversary fun fact #3 : KWVA (and all radio stations) used to fill out playlists on paper logs! Every track was written down, including the artist, track name, record company, and some internal tracking information. Now we use Spinitron and wow, what a difference!
Check out KWVA playlist from today or anytime back to March 2010: https://spinitron.com/radio/playlist.php?station=kwva&month=Mar&year=2010&sv=l&playlist=current#main
