Some very nice shots for the #dirtyplateproject from @kalirestaurant . So what’s with all the dirty plates on my feed? I find a lot of beauty in what the dirty plates symbolize. I believe that, in the majority of cases, food shouldn’t be photographed before it’s eaten or at least tasted. A lot of effort by chefs, cooks, and waitstaff goes into preparing this food, and out of respect to them, I like to do what’s intended with these delicious nibbles before whipping out my camera. And, if I’m with someone, it symbolizes that I’m sitting and enjoying whatever conversation we’re having over yummy food instead of distracting myself with taking pics. I also try to extend my mindfulness practice to the table, trying to savor every bite, every flavor, and to be thankful for the sustenance. Just a thing I do to keep that beast within happy and true.
