Why Maui?
It’s not that we specifically sought out Maui, we had wanted to move out of Oregon for a good five years before we actually made it happen. Of course over those years we thought about where we’d like to go and through some of our travels we had places in mind as well as, places that we thought would be fun but hadn’t actually been. The four options that we narrowed down too were: -California (San Diego/La Jolla)
-Colorado (Greeley, Boulder, or -Colorado Springs)
-Hawaii (Oahu)
-Japan (Okinawa)

As many big life changing decisions go we were so comfortable with our life in Oregon that we just couldn’t see how it would be easy to move away. We had so many unanswered questions;

House: After all we did just buy our townhouse the previous year…were we just going to sell the house without a substantial amount of equity? rent it out? If we chose to rent it out, how would we manage the tenant/rental when we are out of state? property management company? family?

Family: How could we leave when both of our families were right there, no more than a 4 hour drive away?

Employment: What about our jobs?

Pups: The dogs? How would the move be for them? What’s even the cost to move a pet across the ocean?

Putting all of these questions aside we still knew in our hearts that we wanted to move away, we HAD to experience life in a different way, away from the comfort of the life we were building and our families, and live a life that we made for ourselves.

Well, the stars aligned for us! As we mentioned in last weeks blog, my best friend was moving to Oahu to be a flight attendant and we decided we were going to help her settle in! While we were there her roommate for the month showed us around the island…I don’t mean the touristy parts of the island I mean the “I’ve lived here for over 20 years, let me show you all of the good spots the tourists don’t know about” kind of tour. It was incredible!

On our last day in Oahu we woke up before dawn and hiked Pillbox and at the top of this hike is when we knew…we were moving to Hawaii, we didn’t know how or when but we knew we were going to make it happen! Once we were back home, we discussed how we could make this move..

«New Blog» Who likes a party?! I definitely do...but let’s always make it a beach party...of five ;) Her brother contacted me just a few days before their departure, hoping he could surprise them with a last minute family photo shoot before they leave Maui from their two week long vacation. Luckily, I had some time to squeeze them in - and I'm SO happy I could! I’d hang with this crew any day! «LINK in BIO»
