It’s a treasure when your childhood bestie and her girls (one is my god-daughter) visits you at work, and meet the Prime Minister! #maryngmp #mplife

Today was incredible! When visiting a new town, the best way to get an authentic experience is by meeting the locals. Through meeting a local who works for Parliament, I was taken on a private tour of Parliament where I got to meet the Usher of the Black Rod, Greg Peters. He told me a bit about the Rods history and significance and even let me hold it. He also took me into the Senate. My tour guide then took me to meet Dominic LeBlanc who is the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard. After a quick chat we then proceeded down to the House of Commons to watch Question Period with the PM Justin Trudeau. Not only did I get to observe from the gallery, I got to observe from the Senators Gallery which is a separate section to the general public. I was a stone’s throw away from the PM (unfortunately all belongings are stored before going in so no pics). Once Question Period wrapped up we strolled through the library and up to the top of the clock tower. It was a great day and an experience I will never forget!! #canada #ottawa #parliament #houseofcommons #primeminister #trudeau #usheroftheblackrod #onceinalifetime #experience #travel #traveling #opportunity #amazing
