Climbed Cathedral Peak, 10,900’, today (Southeast Buttress route). Best day ever! This one is #5 on Mountain Project’s 20 Classic Climbs list. Such a beautiful peak in an unbelievable setting. Thanks to @potreroguides for leading, keeping me safe, and for the nice pics! 1st pic is Cathedral Peak at dawn. 2nd is topping out. 3rd is enjoying the view from the summit. Full value day!
Climbed Cathedral Peak on Saturday. The wildfire in Yosemite kept what’s normally a crowd of climbers away, but a lot of smoke rolled in and dampened the panoramic visibility once we started our way up. Between enough wind to blow away my brother’s hat and the temperature seeming to drop because of the smoke it was a bit too hectic for summit beers so basically I hauled four extra pounds of bread soda up five-ish pitches to I guess keep the marmot we saw at the base (alas, not pictured) from cracking one open without us. Anyway the six mile hike and climb were a worthy adventure and thanks to Drew and that dude from Texas for helping keep me alive. ⛰🧗♂️⛺️🌲🔥👌
When you go to scratch your head and realize your helmet is still on.. 😂 Cathedral Peak Summit with Eichorn’s Pinnacle behind me. Within minutes of taking this picture the entire valley filled up with white smoke making it impossible to climb Eichorn’s Pinnacle. I guess we’ll have to return.. I’m still in disbelief that I conquered this mountain. 💪🏼💜
