Day 13- Moving to live
I started practicing because I hurt myself running 🏃 and needed to do something. Adding a yoga practice helped me find a sustainable #running practice.
At the end of the summer I was at @floydyogajam fresh from a twisted ankle (happened while running 😬) and at a workdhop from @ariele.foster who teachers all over the place, but has an ongoing class at a dc yogaworks.
She talked about teaching a challenging level 2 core flow class and then at the end some of the students would struggle to get up off of their mat. Another way to think about that, what is all this yoga good for if you can’t get out of bed? Get into your car? Get off the mat?
I love seeing those who incorporate other types of movements into their yoga practice to make the whole system (see: your body) work as effectively as possible. Growth is good when done with intelligence and purpose.
A quote that I love and can’t find who actually said it is “the best practice is the one you can do again tomorrow”, or something like that. I’ve found a practice that serves my ability to live and I couldn’t stress that enough, even if it includes non-yoga. It most likely will have to.
