These balls are quite soft...I highly suggest you do not this on a harder ball (like tennis balls) unless you like pain/rolled ankles. A lot has been said about alkaline diets and correcting our pH levels. This concoction can help to do this. It doesn’t even taste too bad. I’ve certainly had shots of more disgusting drinks (in my youth obviously). ⠀

Some of the benefits include improving digestion, hair and skin, immune system, and hydration levels. I’m doing it primarily to help reduce acid build up in my blood and improve my endurance/energy levels. ⠀

I’m not a nutritional expert (except with pizzas and ice creams), so do your own research too, or consult your nutritionist. I’m sure it’s been done before but this exercise popped into my brain today. In Pilates we focus shoulder bridges on the centre- so mainly glutes (bum) and TvA (deep lying corset muscle underneath your abs)- and try to not use the hamstrings much. Well my hamstrings are pretty weak so this variation adds them (heavily) into the mix. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

⠀⠀is to stop the pelvis
⠀⠀from tilting away
⠀⠀from you. This relies
⠀⠀on engaging the TvA
⠀⠀to maintain the
⠀⠀pelvis in neutral.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀* ⠀⠀

My first attempt definitely saw my pelvis tilting away which risks causing lower back pain. Second time round (this video) I focused only on the pelvis and kept it under greater control. It’s not perfect, but it’s better. ⠀

As well as stopping the pelvis tilting front to back, we’ve got instability side to side. So again the TvA helps stabilise this, along with even pressure in the feet from the glutes and hamstrings. ⠀

I would suggest to only try this if you have a pretty strong practice already, and good body awareness. For most people downward dog is far from a restorative pose. @sundrayoga said about tying a belt/strap to a wall and trying a restorative down dog. I’m lucky enough to have @trxtraining straps so modified her idea to this!
