This movement focusses on using the The latissimus dorsi(lats), which is a large back muscle that fans out from your upper arm bone to your spine and then extends down to your hip bone. To begin this movement- hold the dumbbell between your hands in a lock position. Lower yourself to the bench where both the shoulder blades and head are resting on the edges, hips should be kept up and in alignment with the core keeping it engaged throughout the movement. While keeping your arms straight, lower the weight slowly in an arc behind your head while breathing in until you feel a stretch in your lats. Hold for a count of two and then return slow and controlled while exhaling to the starting position.
