This poll is going on in my highlights titled "Question," and I must say I'm a little astounded at the initial results! Perhaps I should have clarified cardio as "steady state." Be sure to contribute and I'll post results again for discussion in about a week. .

I answered “No” thinking you meant steady state. You can lift weights really fast and “get cardio” but I didn’t think that’s what you meant.

Personally I do an hour of cardio a day in addition to a hiit workout with weights. I love what cardio does for me mentally and it helps keep my lumbar spine flexible and pain free. This is my back medicine and I love it.

My doctor and trainer both say only HIIT cardio when trying to lose weight. HIIT cardio increases insulin sensitivity. Further, LISS cardio trains the body to be more efficient with its fuel and HIIT trains it to be less efficient. When trying to burn off body fat, you want to be the 12mpg Ferrari and not the 33mpg Honda.
