With Toys R Us precariously teetering on the edge of extinction, I’m glad to have a bit of vintage TRU/Banana Splits history. For whatever reason, TRU used images (which were poorly painted) of the Banana Splits throughout this 1970 newspaper supplement- a particularly odd marketing ploy since there are absolutely no Banana Splits toys being promoted within the multiple pages. One of the images of Geoffrey and the Splits within this circular was reproduced on their 2017 reusable shopping bags #toysrus #tru #geoffrey #giraffe #bananasplits #hannabarbera #newspapers #flyers #advertisement #advertising #shoppingbag #classictv #saturdaymorningtv

I love that bag and how it was like a history of Geoffrey and the company! I bought like 5 of them!

Wow, I Wish they had Banana Split merchandise! I don’t think Toys R Us came to Vancouver until the 90s. I did not realise they had been around so long.
