I decided to share something a little different today with this Short-eared Owl that I watched fly in and land on the fence ahead of me. As much as I love a near frame-filling look at these beauties, I also enjoy a wider angle view of the overall scene. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. 🤔

Great shot Traci! I agree with you-I love seeing the whole story/scene 🙂

How did you take that photo from above?

Not a common composition for bird photography but works for me. Well done. Deserves a print.

@tlsepkovic I'm pretty sure I got pics of one of these owls last week in Saskatchewan. If I DM you a pic can you ID? I have never seen one before!

Wonderful shot, I love a frame filling shot as well, but you really nailed this. It must look amazing on a bigger screen 👍

    Nice shot 👍✨

Just love the whole composition! A frame filled with just the owl is great, but this photo tells us that they must thrive in an expansive world.

I love fence lines and adding an Owl to it makes it even better!

    Traci... such a great comp.

I often shoot tight because I love seeing detail. HOWEVER, that also means I tend to forget that at times, a wider view is the way to go - which is exactly what you rightly did here. This is a well composed image as well.

Outstanding! Sometimes we all need to consider a wider perspective. Not just through the viewfinder.

I too like tight images and live the detail that provides. But this shot is wonderful and I would more inclined to frame and display this image
